Ganem Files for City Council Position

FREMONT – Sally Ganem, former Fremont elementary school principal and Nebraska’s longest serving First Lady, filed for Fremont City Council, Ward IV today.

Ganem was with the Fremont Public Schools for over 20 years and her last assignment was as Howard Elementary School Principal.

She has been involved in many Fremont community organizations, including as a board member of Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Low-Income Ministry. Currently, she is serving on the Uniquely Yours Board of Directors.

Ganem was Nebraska’s First Lady from 2005 to 2015 when her husband, Dave Heineman, served as Governor of Nebraska.

“Fremont is a great place to live, work and raise a family, and I want to make it even better,” Ganem said.

Ganem and Heineman have lived in Fremont since 1982. Their son Sam, a graduate of Fremont Public Schools and Midland University, his wife Jessica and their daughter Della reside in Fremont.

March 2nd was the final day for non-incumbents to file for office on the primary ballot.
