FSB Seniors Fight For Comeback Win at MidSouth Tournament

HASTINGS – The First State Bank American Legion Seniors recorded a comeback for the ages, fighting their way to a 7-4 victory over Cometa, Oklahoma’s Three Rivers Bandits in the winner’s bracket final of the Mid-South Regional at Duncan Field in Hastings.

Down 4-1 in the top of the fifth, First State plated two runs to cut the Bandits’ lead to one.  In First State’s last at-bat in the seventh with one out, First State battled to load up the bases. Mitchell Glause, down to the team’s last strike, drew a bases loaded walk to tie the game at 4-4.

That’s when things started clicking. Brennan Callahan delivered a two-RBI single to put First State up 6-4.  A wild pitch would then score Glause to make it a 7-4 lead.  Brady Benson came on to pitch a three-up, three down seventh to earn the save.  Brennan Callahan pitched 2.1 innings of scoreless relief.  He talked about moving to the mound in the fifth inning:

Callahan also described his big at-bat:
