FREMONT – The Fremont Police department responded to several incidents this weekend, including a well-being call that devolved into a DUI arrest and a physical fight breaking out over missing marijuana.
On Friday 11/30/2018 at approximately 12:45PM Eric L. Mitchell, 24, of Omaha, NE was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol following a welfare check in the 1000 block of north Broad Street. Mitchell was the operator of a motor vehicle and was seen slumped over the wheel of his vehicle in the 1300 block of north Ridge Road. Police and ambulance personnel were dispatched to check his well-being. Mitchell left the area before first responders could arrive. He was later stopped on Broad Street after his vehicle was observed crossing the center lane line. Officers noted signs of impairment consistent with the consumption of alcoholic beverages. It was learned he had been involved in a property damage accident. Mitchell was also cited on suspicion of leaving the scene of a property damage accident and being in possession of an open container of an alcoholic beverage.
On Saturday 12/02/2018 at approximately 11:40PM Brian D. Drews, 35, of Fremont was arrested on suspicion of obstructing a police officer following a disturbance complaint at a residence in the 500 block of west 6th Street. Officers were dispatched to the residence for a possible physical fight. When officers arrived and knocked on the door to the residence a person inside opened the door. Officers were allowed to step inside and as they did, Drews intervened and slammed the door shut, striking one of the officers. Officers eventually made contact again with Drews and during their contact with him they located a small amount of marijuana and a devices used to smoke marijuana. He was additionally charged with possession of marijuana less than one ounce and possession of drug paraphernalia.
On Sunday 12/02/2018 at approximately 3:00AM Jeremy P. Lippincott, 23, of Fremont and Curtiss A. Wheat, 25, also of Fremont were both cited on suspicion of 3rd Degree Assault following a dispute at a residence in the 2000 block of north D Street. An argument over missing marijuana escalated into a physical fight with both Lippincott and Wheat striking the other. Both had minor injuries and both were cited.
