Fremont Police Arrest Two After Traffic Violations

FREMONT – Fremont Police placed two individuals under arrest after separate traffic stops uncovered larger crimes.

Thursday afternoon just after 3PM, Fremont Police stopped a female driver in the 2300 block of north Nye Avenue, on suspicion of driving with a suspended license. During the stop it was learned that the driver also had an outstanding warrant for her arrest in Dodge County. Janice M. Valdez, 55, of Omaha was arrested for Driving with a Suspended License and was taken into custody for for the warrant issue.

In the overnight Thursday/Friday hours, just after 1AM, police witnessed a motorist speeding and driving erratically in the 600 block of north Broad Street. Police stopped the vehicle on suspicion of driving under the influence. During the stop, the motorist exhibited signs that he had been drinking, and refused to take a breathalyzer test. As a result, Shawn D. Zurcher, 42, of Fremont was arrested and charged with Driving under the Influence, Refusal to submit to a Chemical Test, and Exhibition of Speed.
