Fremont Mall’s $500K Request Denied at City Council

FREMONT – The Fremont Mall’s request for a $500 thousand dollar forgivable loan out of the city’s LB840 Economic Development funds has been denied.

At Tuesday’s city council meeting, the request was formally heard by the full council after the request had previously been discussed in two committee meetings. The committees were split – one recommending the loan be approved, the other recommending it was denied.

Mayor Getzschman recently said, “The mall has cut rents to all tenants in an effort to retain their current business while they explore renovation options.”

The mall’s owners,  Delta Plaza, LLC, will have to keep exploring. The assembled council unanimously denied their request on Tuesday.
