FREMONT – Ask any renter: Fremont is in dire need of affordable housing. The Fremont Housing Agency is hoping to alleviate some of the strain with their latest housing project.
The Nebraska Investment Finance Authority (NIFA) provided the financing for the project, according to Rita Grigg, Executive Director for the Fremont Housing Agency. “We were approved through NIFA to do another 20-unit, 3-bedroom tax credit property,” said Grigg. “It’s going to be called Hidden Brook Townhomes.”
Hidden Brook Townhomes will be a 20-unit townhome development north of the Fremont Mall, and east of the FHA’s current townhomes at Fountain Springs Estates. Each unit will have three bedrooms, providing enough space for families with children.
The Fremont Housing Agency will work with Mesner Development, from Central City, NE, to plan and build the new housing. Mesner has extensive experience building out these types of units, having developed over five dozen multi-family projects throughout the Midwest.
The new townhome development should begin dirt work on the land this fall or next spring, depending on the weather.
