FREMONT – There will be two options for those wanting to share their Thanksgiving meal with the greater Fremont community – two community Thanksgiving dinners will be held on Thanksgiving Day: Thursday, November 28th.
Returning for the 34th year, the annual Fremont Area Community Thanksgiving will once again be held at Midland University from 11:30AM to 1:30PM on Thanksgiving Day. Open to anyone and everyone who enters the dining hall, volunteers will be serving a full Thanksgiving dinner: turkey, ham, mashed potatoes and all the trimmings – plus dessert – will be on offer at the Midland University Dining Hall.
Over 1,000 people annually enjoy this meal at the Community Thanksgiving Dinner, so volunteers are welcome – and still very much needed. This year, volunteers can show up at the Midland University Dining Hall at 940 E 9th Street anytime before, during or shortly after the dinner to help with preparing, serving and cleaning up. If you wish to help with cooking or set up, you can come to the dining hall starting around 8:30AM on Thanksgiving morning.
A separate Community Thanksgiving meal will be served by the Fremont Chapter of the Los Diablos Motorcycle Club from 1PM to 8PM on Thanksgiving day. The motorcycle club is located at 412 E 1st Street in Fremont. This meal will also be totally free of charge. The club will even be serving leftovers on Friday. Anyone in the community who would otherwise be alone on Thanksgiving or who may not have the means to make a traditional holiday meal is encouraged to stop by.
If you’d like to help with this new event, contact Deivea Rayfield at firstname.lastname@example.org. The Fremont Chapter of the Los Diablos club is accepting donations of unprepared food through Tuesday, November 26th. You can also drop off prepared, ready to eat food for the day on Thanksgiving morning.
