FREMONT – In light of the current COVID-19 situation, and with the goal of slowing community spread as encouraged by our local, state and federal government leaders, the Fremont Family YMCA will be closing their facilities and programs, with the exception of child care, effective at 6PM tonight, Tuesday, March 17, 2020.
The YMCA will be closely monitoring the situation to determine a safe and acceptable reopening date, and will communicate operational updates as we determine the appropriate course of action. While this closure includes all facilities including wellness centers and pool operations, the YMCA day care and Fun Days programs will remain open in order to provide emergency child care to parents who still have to report into work.
The YMCA has been working closely with Three Rivers Public Health Department, and child care licensing, to follow guidelines and to keep children safe. The Y child care has changed their structure to a ratio of 10 kids to 2 employees, as per the recommendation of the health department. Groups have been spread into various rooms and areas throughout the building to accommodate the 6 ft. recommendation for social distancing.
Please consider keeping your membership to the YMCA active. We recognize this is a very uncertain time, but the Y asks you to consider staying a member this time, as they pivot their services for the safety of the community.
In the meantime, the YMCA is striving to find ways to strengthen members and keep them active. For more information about group fitness classes from home or ideas to stay fit, follow the YMCA on Facebook or visit www.fremontfamilyymca.org.
