FPD Pass Busy Weekend of Arrests, Incidents and Citations

FREMONT – The Fremont Police had an extremely busy weekend, making multiple arrests and citations for offenses from property damage to DUI and investigating serious crimes like grand theft auto and a possible arson fire.

Suspected Arson

On Saturday 09/28/2019 at approximately 1:30AM Fremont Fire and Police personnel responded to a report of a garage on fire at a residence in the 1400 block of north Colson Avenue.  The resident reported that he saw smoke emitting from the garage.  An investigator from the State Fire Marshall’s office responded to the scene and believed the fire may have been set intentionally.  Evidence was gathered and the investigation is ongoing.  Damage to the garage is estimated at $2500.00.

Stolen Vehicle

On Saturday 09/28/2019 at approximately 1:55AM a vehicle was reported stolen from a residence in the 2400 block of north Nye Avenue.  The victim reported that his 2014 Dodge Dart was parked and unlocked, with the keys inside, when it was stolen.   The vehicle is white bearing Nebraska license plate #31-C601.  There are no suspects.  The estimated value of the vehicle is $6500.00.

Hit & Run

On Sunday 09/29/2019 at approximately 2:50PM a hit and run property damage accident was reported at a residence in the 2100 block of Austin Lane. It was reported that sometime between 12:00M on Friday 09/27/2019 and 11:00AM on Saturday 09/28/2019 an unknown vehicle struck a privacy fence around the residence.  The driver of the vehicle left without leaving any contact information or notifying police.  Damage to the fence is estimated at $1500.00.

DUI

On Sunday 09/29/2019 at approximately 7:20PM Karen M. Paseka, 53, of Fremont was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol following a single-vehicle accident in the 1200 block of west Linden Avenue.  Paseka was the operator of a motor vehicle that left the roadway and struck a tree in front of a residence.  She showed signs of impairment consistent with the consumption of alcoholic beverages.  After failing a preliminary breath test she was arrested.  Paseka’s 2013 Ford Fusion sustained an estimated $1,000.00 in damages while a pine tree sustained an estimated $100.00 in damage.

Thefts from Vehicles

On Saturday 09/28/2019 at approximately 12:45PM a theft was reported from a vehicle in the 900 block of north Logan Street.  The victim reported that sometime between 12:30AM and 12:30PM on 09/28/2019 someone entered his parked vehicle and took a Weatherby brand 12-gauge pump action shotgun, some clothes and firearm accessories.  The estimated value of the stolen property is $1100.00.  There did not appear to be any forced entry to the vehicle.

On Saturday 09/28/2019 at approximately 4:20PM a theft was reported from a vehicle in the 1000 block of north Pebble Street. The victim reported that sometime after 11:00PM on Friday 09/27/2019 someone entered his parked vehicle and stole cash and two banking cards.  There did not appear to be forced entry to the vehicle.
