FREMONT – The Fremont Police made a handful of arrests and citations over the last few days, with offenses ranging from assault on an officer to theft and DUI.
Saturday night, just before Midnight, Fremont Police arrested Jessica C. Mohr, 33, of Fremont on suspicion of numerous charges following a disturbance complaint at a residence in the 1800 block of north Irving Street. Mohr was involved in a dispute with an acquaintance. Officers on-scene learned she had an outstanding warrant for her arrest and while trying to place her into custody she physically resisted, including biting one of the officers which inflicted injury. After her arrest she was observed allegedly hiding something in the backseat of the patrol cruiser. A search yielded a small plastic baggie with a powder that tested positive for methamphetamine. She was charged with 3rd Degree Assault on an Officer, Resisting Arrest, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
On Monday morning, police cited Joseph D. Brainard, 33, of Fremont on suspicion of theft by shoplifting stemming from a Saturday complaint at a business in the 200 block of west 23rd Street. Brainard is accused of taking a quantity of activated gift cards from the business and leaving without paying for them. Brainard was cited after he returned to the same business on Monday morning and was recognized by employees. The dollar amount of the stolen gift cards is undetermined at this time.
A midafternoon DUI lead to the next citation, when police received a report of a single car accident in the 700 block of west Military Avenue. Around 3PM, witnesses reported seeing a car that had been swerving through the lanes on Military leave the roadway and roll to a stop in a nearby grassy area. When police responded, they discovered Robin R. Hostetler, 54, of Ames, NE behind the wheel and the odor of an alcoholic beverage was observed emanating from her person. She also showed signs of impairment consistent with the consumption of alcoholic beverages, and was cited on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol. There were no reports of damage to her car or to other property.
Finally, around 9PM last night, Shelbea- Anne C. Helget, 20, of Fremont was cited on suspicion of disturbing the peace and disorderly conduct following a disturbance complaint at a residence in the 2000 block of north Laverna Street. Helget is accused of starting a disturbance with an acquaintance at that residence, and after police arrived she was argumentative, yelling and shouting obscenities, defying officers’ requests to calm down.
