FPD Continuing to Receive Numerous Theft Reports

FREMONT – The Fremont Police Department took more theft complaints yesterday, both involving vehicles. This time, one of the victims had his car stolen.

Yesterday morning around 11AM, police responded to a residence near 1st and north Irving streets to investigate a theft from vehicle complaint. The victim reported that sometime between 5:00PM on Wednesday 07/31/2019 and 6:00AM on Thursday 08/01/19, an unknown person forcibly entered his parked, locked vehicle by breaking into the driver’s door. Once inside, the thief or thieves stole property including gift cards, a Bushnell brand range finder, and sunglasses.  Between damage to the door and the stolen property, the estimated loss is $600.00.

About ninety minutes later, FPD officers were called to a home near 2nd and Platte, where a vehicle had been reported stolen.  The victim in this case reported that between 11:00PM Wednesday and 11:00AM on Thursday, someone stole his 2005 GMC Sierra from its parking space on the street in front of the home. The victim reported the vehicle was locked, and police confirmed that he is in possession of the vehicle’s keys. The vehicle has Nebraska commercial plate 5-6816A.  The estimated loss is $7,000.00.
