FREMONT – The 4th of July is right around the corner, and multiple professional displays are planned for the area. Small firework sales will also begin this week at stands across the city, if you are one of many who enjoys a smaller display at home.
If you plan to light your own fireworks as we get closer to Independence Day, here’s what you need to know:
- Fireworks go on sale in Fremont on Thursday, June 27th.
- Fireworks are legal to discharge in Fremont City Limits between the hours of 8AM and 11PM from June 27th through July 3rd.
- On July 4th, revelers get an extra hour, with legal discharge hours of 8AM to Midnight on this day only.
If someone in your neighborhood is using fireworks outside of the legal time frame, Fremont Police chief Jeff Elliot has some simple advice: “Call the police. We’ll come out and address it.” A little consideration for your neighbors goes a long way during this week. If you know your neighborhood has infants, combat veterans or working people, you might consider cutting your fireworks usage off a little earlier during the weekday evenings.
Always keep a bucket of water handy to douse your spent fireworks, and never use fireworks near trash, buildings or wooden structures. Keep your fireworks usage on your own property, and remember that it is illegal to throw any kind of firework in the city of Fremont.
