Fall Injuries Result in Three Lifeflighted from Grain Bin Outside Oakland

OAKLAND – Three people were lifeflighted away from the scene of a grain bin accident outside of Oakland yesterday.

The accident occurred just after noon on Wednesday at the Central Valley Ag location about three miles north of Oakland. Fire Departments from Lyons and Oakland responded to the accident, and worked for over an hour to get the three people injured out of danger and into helicopters that would take them to nearby hospitals.

Two of those injured were flown to Sioux City, IA. The third person was first taken to MercyOne in Oakland, but was also flown to Sioux City after an initial examination.

Authorities say the injuries were sustained as the result of a fall, but have provided no other details about the nature of that fall or those injured in it.
