Evacuation Order Lifted for Some Communities on Hwy 30

AMES – As of 12PM on Thursday, per the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, previous evacuation orders covering Ames, West of Fremont at Meadow Brook, Westlake, Westgate, Royal Estates are LIFTED!

Residents of these areas can begin returning to assess their property immediately.
Ridge Road, Lake Leba, Rod & Gun Club and the Fremont Lakes SRA areas are all still considered devastated and under mandatory evacuation. There are reports of residents walking in to this neighborhood – this is strongly discouraged as first responders will not be able to enter to aid you in an emergency due to barricades still actively holding water back.

Mayor Scott Getzschman provided an update about the condition of this area on Wednesday afternoon.
