FOUND SAFE: Endangered Missing Alert Canceled for Bob Bales


Bales has been found safe, according to the Nebraska State Patrol and Dodge County Sheriff’s office. No further information about his condition has been released, but both agencies have marked Bales “recovered safe” and the Endangered Missing Alert has been cancelled.



AMES – An elderly man was reported missing last night after he left a relative’s home just north of Ames, but did not return home.

The Nebraska State Patrol is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Bob Bales, 82, a 5’10”, 160 pound white male.

Bales was last seen near 1500 County Road R in Dodge County at about 5:30 PM, on Wednesday, December 12th. He left a relative’s house at 1500 County Road R to return to his home near 1900 County Road North, an eight mile journey by most routes that should have taken 15 minutes. Unfortunately, Bales did not arrive and was reported missing last night.

Bales was last seen driving a navy blue 2010 Dodge Dakota, bearing NE commercial plates 5-4166A. Bales was last seen wearing a light blue jacket, plaid shirt, blue jeans, and a ball cap. He has heart issues, is easily confused and hard of hearing.
