Drive-In Theatre North of Valley to Break Ground Next Week

VALLEY  — A long awaited and eagerly anticipated project will finally break ground this month, as Fremont couple Jeff & Jenny Karls begin construction on their new outdoor theater.

Quasar Drive-In Theater will be located at 13427 N. 300th St., North of Valley, NE, just off the Bennington exit of Dodge/275. This new area attraction will feature parking for 420+ cars in front of an 85’ x 35’ screen. Projection is handled by a state-of-the-art, digital, 4K laser projector, first of its kind in use at an outdoor theater. The centrally located concession building features a sleek and stylish, mid-century modern design and will have a full offering of dinner and snack favorites.

Jeff & Jenny began their quest to bring a drive-in theater back to the area after visiting the Dependable Drive-In in Moon, Pennsylvania on their honeymoon in 2013. The idea hatched as they watched the feature from their 1946 Ford.

“The drive-in is a community center of sorts, we see it at every one that we visit. They’re filled with families and friends enjoying each other’s company before the show. We wanted to bring that kind of family entertainment back to Omaha,” Karls said in a 2017 interview.

The ground-breaking ceremony will be held at the site on March 21st at 3:00PM, and the public is invited to attend. Completion on the project is anticipated by mid-July, to allow a mid-season grand opening.
