FREMONT – The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office invites county residents to help them give back this holiday season.
The sheriff’s office is holding their second annual Stuff the Cruiser event. Deputies with the sheriff’s office will be stationed at three locations. People can bring new unwrapped toys and children’s winter wear to donate. Deputy Brie Frank says after a positive response from the surrounding communities last year, they decided to bring the event back this year.
“Last year we started it. Sheriff Hespen had the idea to stuff the cruiser. He saw the need in Dodge County for toys for kids that may not have any,” said Frank. “So we started it last year. We had an amazing turnout. We helped over 50 families. And we decided this year we’ll have our second annual Stuff the Cruiser.”
Deputies will be at the Dollar General in North Bend from 10 a.m. to noon on December 2nd, as well as at the Dollar General in Hooper from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Deputy Frank says this year they’ve added a new location to their event.
“This year we actually have added the Fremont location. So the east Dollar General in Fremont, deputies will be there on December 3rd from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. And that’s new this year,” said Frank. “We went to North Bend and asked them if they would like to participate again. They said they would love to, and they wanted to add more stores.”
Deputy Franks says her goal this year is to help give back to the children of at least 60 families in Dodge County.
“We helped 50 families last year. My goal is at least 60 families this year,” said Frank. “Each family usually has anywhere between one to four kids. It varies. So I’m hoping to get more families this year that are helped.”
People can also drop off donations at the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office from December 1st to December 18th. The sheriff’s office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
