The National Association of Clean Water Agencies released a report comparing the average cost of wastewater services nationwide to the rate of inflation. This year’s report showed the national average cost of wastewater services to be over $500 for the first time ever. However, the average cost of wastewater services for a family residence in Fremont remains below $200.
The cost of these services varies in each region vary depending on its demographics, geography and other issues. In the region that includes Nebraska, the average cost is $542. According to a press release from the City of Fremont, the services in Fremont are among the cheapest in the region.
According to City Administrator Brian Newton, Fremont has excellent water.
“We have some of the purest and cleanest water around,” he said. “We do very little to it. We add some chlorine. Other than that we really don’t do anything with it. The residents are very, very fortunate to have such quality water in Fremont.”
The cost of wastewater services may increase due to upgrades being made to the plant this year, but according to the press release from the City of Fremont, the services in Fremont will continue to be among the lowest in the region.
