Controlled Burn Planned in North Bend on Friday Evening

NORTH BEND – Residents in North Bend may notice some closed streets and smoke in the air this Friday, but not to worry: it’s a planned burn.

The North Bend Fire Department will be conducting a controlled burn of one residential structure on the Southwest corner of 10th and Hickory streets this coming Friday, June 14. In order to make room for working firefighters and to ensure the safety of the public, the fire department will close off an area around the fire.

On Hickory Street, the entire 900 Block and the south half of the 1000 Block will be closed. On 10th Street, the entire 600 Block and the West half of the 700 Block will also be closed.

The North Bend Fire Department has asked all residents to remove vehicles from the closed area during the burn until the “all clear” has been given by the fire chief. The controlled burn is scheduled to take place during the evening hours: all vehicles should be removed from the streets between 5PM and 5:30PM. The fire department will be on-scene around 6PM, with the actual burn event to start between 6:30-7:00PM.
