FREMONT – While construction is progressing on the first solar farm in Fremont the expected date for completion has been moved due to wet weather.
The construction on the solar farm is progressing, and the installation of the panels and the electrical portion of the work will soon begin. Despite construction now running smoothly the expected completion date has been changed. Executive Assistant of Communication and Grants for the City of Fremont Lottie Mitchell says the date was pushed back due to all of the rain last month.
“Construction continues on the first solar farm. All the piles have been driven, and we should start to see panel installation very soon,” said Mitchell. “With the rain in October, it did push the timeline back. We were hoping to be online by January 1st, but it has now pushed it back to the middle of February to be online.”
Mitchell says they are still taking names for the second solar farm’s waiting list. She adds anyone wanting to put their name on the waiting list can still do so.
“We really appreciate the interest. We’re excited about our solar farms,” said Mitchell. “I encourage those that want to be participants in the second solar farm to get their name on the list. That way they’ll have the first opportunity to sign the agreements.”
People can put their name on the waiting list by calling (402) 727-2630 or visiting the Department of Utilities.
