LINCOLN — State Troopers throughout the state of Nebraska have completed their annual “Click It or Ticket” to kickoff the summer driving season. Throughout the two week enforcement operation, NSP officers issued 39 citations for seat belt violations – and that’s just the beginning.
During the two-week campaign, troopers also removed 22 drivers from the road for driving under the influence. They issued a whopping 934 citations for speeding. Other cited offenses included: driving under suspension (78), no proof of insurance (56), minor in possession (7), open container (26), no seat belt (39), and improper child restraint (18). Troopers placed 115 people under arrest during the Click-It campaign: 10 for reckless driving, 66 for drug offenses, and 39 fugitives with active warrants.
It wasn’t all tickets and arrests, though: Troopers also assisted 585 motorists in need of help over those two weeks. “Now that the summer driving season is well underway, we encourage all drivers to do their part to make the roads safe,” said Colonel John Bolduc. “Whether your summer includes road-trips or trips across town, make sure you click your seat belt before hitting the road.”
Never drive under the influence and obey posted speed limits – the Nebraska State Patrol will be out and about, all summer long.
