FREMONT – The City of Fremont is hosting a Mitigation Workshop and Open House to assist businesses and homeowners in understanding flood mitigation activities.
The meeting will be held in the Christensen Field Meeting Room on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
This will be an open house style meeting with no formal presentation. Attendees are invited to come as their schedules allow. The meeting has been designed to allow property owners an opportunity to learn more about flood mitigation activities and to speak one-on-one with the industry experts.
The City of Fremont has been invited by the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to submit an application for Hazard Mitigation Grant Program funding. This would provide property owners with up to 75% of the cost to mitigate their property from the risk of flooding. In anticipation of receiving the application forms in the next couple of weeks, the City is collecting contact information and property information for those who are interested in participating in the program.
The hazard mitigation program guidelines state that only properties listed in the application submitted will be considered for funding. Anyone interested in participating or just to learn more is encouraged to attend this meeting. Interested parties need not be located in Fremont to attend as the information available at the meeting may benefit those not participating in the City’s funding opportunity.
Individuals or businesses who are unable to attend the meeting, but are interested in participating in mitigation activities and want to be included in the application, should contact Lottie Mitchell with the City of Fremont at 402-727-2630.
