FREMONT – Many people lost cherished possessions when floodwaters engulfed entire neighborhoods throughout our area last spring. As the survivors of that devastation continue to rebuild their lives, it’s important to continue traditions – like decorating for the holidays – to keep that healing process going.
Amanda Westergaard at Keller Williams Realty wants to help make sure local flood survivors have everything they need to decorate their new living spaces for the holidays. “I had four houses in my immediate family that were effected by the floods,” Westergaard said. ” I know that many people kept their decor stored in basements, and that spending money on Christmas decor is not a high priority for many of these people.”
For that reason, Westergaard is collecting Christmas decorations to donate to flood survivors this month. “I’ll be taking items & allowing shopping throughout November,” she said.
Everything from artificial trees, ornaments and lights, to wrapping paper, bows, & wreaths will be available for flood survivors to shop this Wednesday from 9AM to 7PM, and on Friday from 11AM to 6PM at the Keller Williams office in the Parkview Center at 1900 E Military Avenue.
Westergaard plans to have more opportunities for flood survivors to shop the donated decorations throughout the month. Her Facebook event “Christmas Related Donations for Flood Victims,” will have up to date shopping days and times.
Donations are still welcome. To donate, call Amanda Westergaard at (402) 669-6180.
