Child Welfare Check Ends in Weapons Arrests

FREMONT – Two adults were arrested last night when police stopped to check the welfare of a child at their residence and discovered two persons in possession of prohibited weapons.

It was after 1AM, as late Wednesday turned into early Thursday morning, when officers were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Schuyler Avenue to check the welfare of a minor child. When they arrived, officers could smell the odor of burnt marijuana emanating from the residence.

Noahlene P. Gilpin, 28, and Brandon LK Presley, 30, both of Fremont, consented to a police search of the residence, at which time Gilpin was found to have a set of brass knuckles on her person, and Presley had a blade on his person. Both individuals are prohibited from having any type of weapon, according to Fremont Police. The search also yielded concentrated THC, marijuana more than one ounce and drug paraphernalia.

Both were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana more than an ounce, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a deadly weapon.
