FREMONT – It’s been nearly a week now, since a tragic accident claimed the life of Sara Steiner, an Omaha mother with Fremont roots. Now, the Fremont community is invited to rally around her family and pass on the hope and happiness that Sara espoused in her life.
Sara was the daughter of Tammy Trahan, well known throughout Fremont as the owner of the Corner Bar. Sara was just 35 years old and pregnant when a deer-involved accident on Highway 36 last Friday claimed her, and her unborn child’s, life. Her family called her a Super Hero just yesterday, as her organs were donated through Nebraska Organ Recovery and will go on to save up to eight people and improve the lives of up to another 50. “She will bring happiness to some other families and her life will go on in some other way,” Joseph Steiner, Sara’s husband, said.
A Celebration of Life for Sara will be held at the Corner Bar in Fremont this Sunday, September 16th from 2PM – 8PM, not only to remember her as the joyful, giving person she was but to ensure a future for her daughter, Zooey through the Sara Steiner Memorial, which will be used to build an education trust fund for the child. There will be a door charge, food for sale, silent auction and a favorite band playing as the family remembers and celebrates Sara.
Donations can also be made to the Sara Steiner Memorial at any First State Bank location.
Attendees are asked to wear purple to the event, representing Sara’s favorite color.
Organizers are still looking for donated auction items, as well. If you would like to contribute an item to the silent auction, contact Holly Stout at 402-909-2383 or Kim Henrichson at 402-651-5390
