FREMONT – A car impacted a stopped train last night in northwest Fremont, but fortunately no one was injured.
Around 7:40PM on Tuesday night, a vehicle driven by a 78-year-old woman approached the railroad crossing near 23rd Street and Airport Road from the east. A train was stopped on the tracks, blocking 23rd Street and facing south. All emergency lights at the crossing were activated.
The woman did not stop at the crossing and struck the train.
No injuries were reported and police suspect distraction to be the primary cause of the collision. The car sustained an estimated $3,000.00 in damages. The train’s reported damage is valued at $100.00. The driver was not ticketed.
