Blaze Outside of Ames Results in Total Loss of Home

AMES – Fremont Rural Fire responded to a fire call late last night, but sadly, an entire home was lost to the blaze.

Firefighters responded to 1507 Old Lincoln Highway, just outside of Ames, shortly before 11PM on Wednesday night. The home was fully engulfed in flames when Fremont Rural and North Bend Volunteer Fire arrived on the scene. It appears the home was struck by lightning, but the State Fire Marshals office will investigate.

Otherwise, it has been a relatively calm holiday week for both Fremont Fire Department and the Fremont Rural Fire department.   Fremont Rural responded to one other fire this week: a small grass fire on Tuesday, near the Fremont Lakes SRA.
