FREMONT – The Fremont Police dealt with an accident, a burglary and a report of roving criminal mischief yesterday, resulting in two citations and a plea for public assistance.
At approximately 7:00AM a 22 year old Fremont woman was cited on suspicion of driving with an obstructed view following a 2-vehicle property damage accident in the 300 block of west 5th Street. She was the operator of a motor vehicle that struck a parked car, and when speaking to police after the incident, she indicated frost on her windshield hindered her view while she was driving.
Later, around 4:30PM, police responded to a burglary report from a residence located in the 80 block of south Pebble Street. The victim reported someone forcibly entered his detached garage and took various tools and fishing equipment. The estimated dollar amount of the stolen items is $1150.00. The last major incident of the evening occurred just after 10:30PM in the 500 block of west 3rd street. Police received a report of two men walking in the area, damaging mailboxes and behaving in a disorderly manner. Officers responded to the neighborhood and had contact with Christopher D. Byrd, 35, of Fremont and another male.
When police interviewed the men, Byrd admitted he had damaged some mailboxes, and he showed signs of impairment consistent with the consumption of alcoholic beverages. As a result, he was cited on suspicion of criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.
