Nebraska wrestling caps dual slate with easy win over Stanford

LINCOLN — Nebraska finished its dual season with a dominant performance, rolling to a 31-9 win over No. 25 Stanford on Saturday afternoon at the Devaney Center.

The seventh-ranked Huskers got first-period pins from CJ Red at 141 pounds and Taylor Venz at 184. Nebraska also picked up bonus-point wins from Isaiah White (technical fall at 165), Jordan Shearer (major decision at 149) and Mikey Labriola (major decision at 174).

Senior Tyler Berger earned a 2-1 win at 157 pounds in his final appearance at Devaney. For Berger, who is ranked second nationally, it was his 110th career win, moving him into 15th place on NU’s wins list.

At 125 pounds, Nebraska’s Zeke Moisey, ranked 16th, downed No. 20 Gabriel Townsell 3-1, while at 197, 12th-ranked Nathan Traxler of Stanford outlasted No. 13 Eric Schultz 7-6 in a third tiebreaker.

Nebraska finishes its dual season with a 12-5 record. The Huskers now prepare for the Big Ten championships, which will take place March 9 and 10 in Minneapolis.
