Auburn basketball teams pick-up second district victory this week

FAIRBURY, Neb. –¬†After scoring 19 points on Tuesday in their 50-20 win over Falls City, junior Ashley Teten finished with a game-high 23 points Friday night and the Bulldogs defeated Fairbury, 58-32, at Fairbury High School.

Teten hit five three-point shots and finished 4-5 at the free throw line. Fellow junior Sydnie Reeves added 12 points and was 6-10 at the charity stripe. The Bulldogs went 17-25 as a team at the free throw line.

Fairbury was led by the 7 points from sophomore Sara Huss.

Auburn, the #10 team in this week’s NCN rankings, improves to 9-3, while dropping their Class C1-1 opponents, Fairbury, to 6-8.

The Auburn boys basketball team also had two players finish in double figures in their 48-35 win over the Jeffs.

Junior Baily Darnell finished with 12 points and went 4-6 at the free throw line. Senior Michael Lombardi chipped in 10 points. Sophomore CJ Hughes (6 points) and freshman Cameron Binder (9 points) combined for five three-pointers. The Bulldogs were 11-18 at the charity stripe.

Fairbury senior Adam Wasserman had a game-high 13 points.

Auburn evens their record at 6-6. The Jeffs drop to 4-10.

The Bulldogs are back on home on Saturday when the host Conestoga. The Jeffs are off until Thursday when they travel to Sutton.
